Barbara Nice

Peter Kay discovered her at a Manchester talent night in 1997 — now a Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist with 8 million watching.

Barbara Nice is the beloved stage character of Birmingham actress Janice Connolly — an exuberant Kings Heath housewife and mother of five who greets every crowd like an old friend. Peter Kay spotted her at a Manchester talent night in 1997, and she's since supported both him and Johnny Vegas on tour, taken three solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, and reached the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals in front of around eight million viewers. Connolly, behind the character, also played Holy Mary in Phoenix Nights and holds a British Empire Medal for services to community arts. Generous, warm, and never once picking on the audience.
