Pat Monahan
Pat Monahan, born in Iran and raised in Middlesbrough after his family fled the 1979 revolution when he was three, built a career on warm, high-energy audience interaction and natural storytelling rather than a tightly scripted set. He won ITV's Show Me the Funny in 2011, leading to his debut DVD, and picked up Best Newcomer at the Loaded LAFTA Awards. He's a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe, and holds a world record for the longest hug, set alongside fellow comedian Bob Slayer in 2013. The Scotsman has called him one of the smartest comics on the Fringe — audiences tend to leave feeling like they've made a new friend.
